Stoudts Oktoberfest vs. Uinta's Punk'n Ale

Join us as we continue our Oktoberfest "6-Pack" exploration. Last week we sampled two seasonal craft beers, this Friday we're sampling two more:

Pennsylvania's Stoudt's Oktoberfest
...is a Fall brew that follows the classic marzen style with rich copper hue, generous malt, toffee character, and easy drinking.

Utah's Uinta/Four+Punk'n Ale
...is delivered from their wind-powered brewery, and tastefully combines nutmeg and allspice tones to their true fall ale recipe.

Which seasonal beer will you prefer? (As always, food samples, too, from 5-8pm.)

"6-Pack" Seasonal Tasting

The leaves haven't changed color yet, but the fall seasonal beers are arriving every day.

We're kicking off a "6-Pack" of seasonal beer tasting. We'll be featuring two autumn beers every week for the next three weeks. This week we whet your appetite with:

Brooklyn Brewery's Oktoberfest
...a full-bodied and malty beer with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness in the classic Marzen style. It is especially great with local meats such as Polyface Farms sausage, chicken, and pork chops.

Left Hand Brewery's Oktoberfest
....pours a DEEP golden orange with a decent tannish head. Taste and aroma are complex, resembling dark cake with a bit of mineral. The mouth feel is smooth, with a nice residual bitterness after the sip.

As always we'll be sampling food, too. Start your weekend with a Bowers' "6-Pack"!

Who's Your Daddy?

We recently took a trip to Monticello... and we came back wanting to know more about Jefferson.

First stop: what did he drink? Here's Brian checking out the hops on the property: http://twitpic.com/2d4xm9

So this Friday night we're featuring two Founding Father "Revolutionary Ales" (including Jefferson's) from Yards Brewing in Philadelphia. The brews are based on recipes from the time period. Drop by starting at 5pm for a taste....

Here's to revolution!

Road Trip: California's North Coast

Last minute road trips are the best, right?

Here's your last minute notification about tomorrow's tasting featuring Ft. Bragg, California's North Coast Brewing Company. We'll be sampling Blue Star and Scrimshaw. Plus: a TBD nibble.

Because isn't "TBD" the best kind of road trip to have?

San Diego Slapdown

Dear Diary,

I have been training for weeks. I won't let this contender from San Diego take away my boxing - or beer-drinking - titles. (Even if the former are imaginary!) My secret? A rigorous routine lifting "Stone Brewing Co." kegs over my head.

I think it's rather unfair to ask me to compete - given, of course, that I'm dead - but, the kids insist. They're serving two Stone Brewing Company brews on Friday, 5pm-close, and egging on the fight.

Wish me luck.

George
