JUST FOOD - BRIEF BOOK REVIEW

Recommended Reading

"Food for thought" for those of you who enjoy discussing books with us....

Just Food by James E. McWilliams is a provocative read because it explores the validity of the "eat local" philosophy....so you'd think we'd hate this book, right? After all, isn't the entire point of George Bowers Grocery to economically support local farmers and other small food producers?

As it happens, Just Food presents some compelling arguments against the assumption that local is always best. It's a fair book that looks at conventional, local, and organic food production with a critical eye. It will expand your ideas about what food choices are most "just" for people, animals, and the planet. If read with an open mind you might rethink some beliefs about food... and be ever more pleased to shop with us.

Copies available here at the grocery, or, at The Sacred Circle.
